Hello everyone,
Well this week I started off by doing the discussion topic: freedom to read, in this assignment I wrote about censorship and means and method, this assignment was not hard to do because all we really had to do was write about how we feel about the subject. After that I moved on to do the alternative sources assignment which was not that hard but kind of time consuming, in this assignment we were suppose to find two alternate sources to use in our pathfinders, such as a video clip or a government run web site, in this assignment I chose to use a video clip I saw on Youtube about global warming, and I used a article written by the British governments top scientist. We were also suppose to write citations and annotations for both sources. After doing that assignment I moved on to do, the source selection draft assignment, in this assignment I used Britannica online, Proquest, Youtube and my own college library to pick out two books, three articles, two reference articles, two internet sites and one non-print issue. After that assignment I moved on to the do the last assignment of the week and that was the research plan draft, in this assignment we were suppose to use our research plans from week 4 and update them and revise them to reflect the new information we have learned the last weeks, we were suppose to update the classification numbers that we used the key terms we used and some other things, then after that we were suppose to write an essay type thing to finish off the research plan in this essay I talked about the process i used to find my information I then talked about the nature of my topic, then I finished by talking about how the internet was helpful to me. Oh yeah the last assignment was to comment on a classmates source selection and research plan.
Well this week was by far the hardest and most time consuming especially for me since I had none of the previous weeks work and had to redo some of it for I can finish off this week. But I did learn some things about classification numbers and what types of alternate sources we can use in a research assignment.

Journal week 7
Hey everybody and welcome back for week 7,
Well this week did not start off on a good one, first off angel screwed up and we all had to fix things and then my computer decides to fry when I need it the most so that made it worse but other then that lets get back to what im suppose to be talking about.
Well this week I started it off by doing the Research and the world wide web assignment, in this one we were suppose to talk about how the internet can affect attitudes and methods of doing research, which to me was not hard because we just had to tell them what we felt. After that I went on to do the web search assignment, in this assignment we were told to read some instructions basically on how different search engines and databases work, then after that we were suppose to pick four search tools and use them to find out information on our topics, after doing that we were told to answer question such as, what were the results of our searches and which search tool worked best for us, then we had to tell which site we found useful when we did our searches. After completing that assignment I moved on to do the advanced google search assignment in this assignment we were suppose to do searches using keywords and terms that we had found useful in other weeks to find information by using two forms of Google like the advanced search engine and Google scholar, after that we were suppose to answer questions based on our search, questions like what terms or keywords we used and what features we used and then we were suppose to compare the search tools we used. After that I moved on to do the web citations assignment, in this one we were told to write citations for three web sites we have found early in the week, and we are suppose to use the MLA citation guide to this. After that I moved on to the last assignment of the week, evaluating web sites, in this assignment we were told to first find two websites that we have found this week that we think will be helpful in our pathfinder and write citations for both, after that we were told to evaluate the websites by answering question given to us by the teacher like, what the purpose of the site was, who created the site and when was it last updated, after that we were told to write annotations about the web sites by answering questions and telling about what the website was made for.
Well I think the only thing I really had a problem with was the citations like I always do but I think I over came it and did them right. I think I learned some new things like how to use the advanced search on Google and how to look up scholarly thing on Google.

journal week six
Hello everyone and welcome back to another week of school talk,
Well this week I started out with My Search Strategy, in this assignment we were told to figure out different keywords or phrases that we could use to locate more information on our topics, I used Google to help with figuring out which keywords would be good to look at for information on my topic. After completing that assignment I moved on to do the periodicals database assignment, in this assignment we were suppose to locate the Proquest and academic search premier databases and answer some qeustions about both databases,we were suppose to find the answers about what dates are covered by the databases,what subject areas are included,what kind of periodicals are included and who the intended audience these databases are meant for. After that assignment I went to work on my search results, in this assignment we were suppose to use the keywords we found early on in this week to find out which ones helped in locating information on our topics by plugging the words into the Proquest database, another part to this assignment was to find four articles that deal with our topics and cite and write annotations for them using the MLA guide lines. Last but not least the Revised research plan, in this assignment we were suppose to add any new information to our research plans that we have learned this week, it could be new keywords or more information in other sections of the plan, I added a new keyword and some other information about the antarctic ice sheets I got from using the Proquest database.
I have to say this week was kinda hard and im not sure I did the citing right, the only things I had problems with was the citing and annotation writing like I did last week. but I did learn how to use keywords more to find things of interest, like I learned how to narrow the search down instead of typing in a single word like global warming I would type in global warming and the effects on climate, learning those simple thing really do help.

journal /Week 5
Hello everyone and welcome back for week five,
Well this week I started off by doing the MLA citation style assignment which was kinda easy,I started doing this assignment by reviewing the style guide given to us by the teacher, I then went to work doing the book citation she wanted us to do, after doing that I went on to find a article of my own choosing,I do not remember what one I chose, but after finishing up that I went on to the website citation part of the assignment,the site the teacher gave us what not the hard part it was figuring out how to do my own that caused me problems. after completing that assignment I moved on to do the Annotation analysis assignment, in this assignment we had to pick two out of four examples to basically critique them, we had to write about three to four paragraphs for each example, in these paragraphs we had to figure out if the information given was an opinion of the author or if it was a critique or both, after completing that part we had to figure out if the information given would be enough to determine if it would be a useful site to visit, after that part we had to figure out what we could add to the information to make it more effective to use. last but not least we had to do an assignment on citing and annotating your sources,in this assignment we had write an annotation and cite the article we used in our topic thing we sent to the teacher and we had to write an annotation and cite one of the books we looked at in week three. I used the MLA citation guide to help me figure out how to cite the book and article, then I went on to write my annotation of the article and book.
This week was a fun learning experience, I learned how to cite and write annotations something I never knew how to do before. I did run into a few snags along the way, like I could not figure out how to use the MlA citation guide at first, but then I figured it out. Another hard part was the annotations we had to write, I was not sure on what to put in the writing or what to leave out, so I'm hoping I got it right.Well all in all this week was great,I learned a lot of new things that might just benefit me in the long run.

Hello everyone and welcome back to another issue of Joe's school assignments,
well this week I started of with the assignment how I know part 1, in this assignment we were asked to find the origin of the word Canuck, which really was not that hard after you searched through loads of website to find out if the information from one website matched with others. After that I moved on to how I know part 2, which was an assignment about what we know in life and if its true, in this assignment we had to justify what we wrote. after both parts of how I know I moved on to do my research plan, which in my opinion was fun, in this assignment we had to pick a topic name then we had to figure out how to focus our topic into a specific thing like scientific or political after that we had do an outline of the kind of information we plan on including in our research then after that we have to find key terms and find the nature of the topic we chose. week three assignments
Hello everyone and welcome back for my rant on week three's school work,
Well I started out this week by doing the database assignment,which really was not hard to do at all, all we had to do for this assignment was to look up web design information on both Pro quest and the Seattle library catalog, our objective was to figure out which database you would use to look up certain information like which one would go more in depth. after completing that assignment i moved on to the library catalog assignment, in this assignment we were suppose to find books at our college library that could help us in doing our pathfinder assignment.
After doing that I moved on to the visting a library assignment, this assignment I have to say took the most time and effort to do, the main objective of this assignment was to have us visit a college library and explore it, we were sent there to figure out where the main book collection was located and were the reference and peroidcal sections were located. Then after doing that I went on to do the organzing information assignment, which I did on my movie assignment.We were suppose to talk about how we catorgized or organized our collection.

week 2
Hello everyone,
This is Joe once again hitting you up from my house. Well in week two I started off by creating my own blog which was quite fun, I went to the website the teacher gave us, after signing up for my own blog I did a little changes to it, I changed the background color from a boring white to a smoke gray color I then changed the text to a red if I remember right. After creating my blog I moved on to the global topics assignment, which was kinda fun, I first thought of things that would excite me or at least something that I could focus on. SoI picked the war on terrorism, the high unemployment rates and I also picked the biggest debate in the world global warming.
After the global topics assignment was done I moved on to do the web as a research tool assignment, which I think was the funnest assignment this week. I got to research things like the war in Lebanon and the laws forbidding the acts of torture. I used the websites the teacher asked us to use but i found the Liberians internet index a lot better to use then the rest. after that assignment I moved on to do the distance learning assignment, which was okay I just never liked libraries but it was an okay assignment to do. In the assignment I went to my college library and asked the guy working there a lot of different questions ranging from how long you can have a checked out book to question's about distance learning. last but not least I did the topic proposal assignment. In the work I had to tell the teacher what topic I was going to do for my pathfinder project, I had to give the name, why I thought this topic is global, and give a broader idea of the topic and then I had to tell her why I was interested in this topic.
I think the only thing that I had problems on was the topic propasl assigment. I really did not understand what she ment by broader part of the idea and narrower parts, so I hope I did it right. I learned a lot of new things like how to reseacher things using different search engines then google, I also learned new things about the war I did not know. Im still parcrasatating a little bit but im getting it under control.
